Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Eastern Viti Levu and Fiji Islands with Thunderstorms and Flash Flood Risk

Weather Alert: Prepare for a Splash!

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45 AM on Friday, November 7th, 2025. We have a HEAVY RAIN ALERT in force for the eastern half of Viti Levu (from Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori to Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra), Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands. Check out the special weather bulletin on heavy rain at https://www.met.gov.fj/alerts/ for more details—it’s like a weather reality show!

So what’s going on? There’s a weak trough of pressure throwing a cloud and shower party across the eastern parts of the country, while over the rest of Fiji, we have an easterly wind pushing through like it’s on a mission.

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today: Think of today as a moody artist—cloudy but with the occasional splash of showers, especially over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, and a bunch of beautiful islands. The southern half of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu might also throw in some afternoon thunderstorms for extra drama! Just watch out for those isolated heavy falls, as they may not call ahead and could cause some flash flooding in low-lying areas—yikes!

Tomorrow: More of the same with occasional rain and a few added thunderstorms, making the party even livelier! Heavy rain expected for Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Yasawa, and a few other party-goers. Other spots may enjoy fine weather interrupted by an afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm—because who doesn’t love dramatic weather changes? Just be cautious of localized heavy falls; they might think they own the low-lying areas.

Outlook for Sunday: Expect the occasional rain and a few thunderstorms delivering heavy applause over various regions—do bring your umbrellas! Moderate easterly winds will be like your reliable friend, and the seas will be moderate too—perfect for a boat ride… if you don’t mind the rain!
