Weather Update
Good morning, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and waterproof boots; it looks like Mother Nature is throwing quite the rainy party this weekend!
We’ve got a heavy rain alert still in effect, sponsored by a rather cheeky trough of low pressure nestled over Viti Levu’s western side. It’s decided to stretch, yawn, and gradually roll its way eastward across our beautiful islands throughout the day. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s another troupe of trouble—another low-pressure area lurking to the south, planning to crash the party with more clouds and rain. Just what we need, right?
Here’s what you can expect until midnight tonight:
For our awesome Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Kadavu, and their tiny island squad: Prepare for occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms. And just to add a little drama, isolated heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you see water rising, it’s not a pool party, folks!
For everyone else in the Fiji group, it’s mostly cloudy with some showers. Expect those showers to be as pesky as an uninvited guest, becoming more frequent and eventually turning into the occasional rain from later today.
Wind-wise, we can expect moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, gusting about like they’re training for a marathon in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms. And don’t forget about the seas – they’ll be moderate to rough, so maybe skip the boat ride for now!
Looking ahead to Sunday: Occasional rain will continue to feature in our weather drama with heavy moments and a few thunderstorms that may just steal the show.
Here’s the scoop for specific areas:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: Occasional rain and the usual suspects—isolated thunderstorms—might pop up. Expect some heavy falls.
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Same script here with occasional rain and a few dramatic thunderclaps.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Anticipate the same cozy vibe—occasional rain and unexpected thunder as your surprise guest!
– Tavua/Rakiraki and Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Welcome back the rain and thunder action, it’s the star of the show!
– Labasa and Savusavu are also in on the cloudy action with increasing rain later today.
– Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Keep your weather gear at the ready for some occasional rain and unannounced thunderstorms.
– For our friends on Rotuma: It’s a moody, cloudy situation with a sprinkle of showers and moderate to fresh winds, just to keep things interesting.
