Attention all weather enthusiasts and umbrella aficionados! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is putting on a show for the eastern half of Viti Levu today – that’s from Serua-Namosi, through Navua, Suva, Nausori, all the way to Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra. Not to forget Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and their charming little island buddies.
As we dive into our weather situation, a lazy trough of low pressure, lounging around with its cloud companions, is showering its presence across the eastern and northern parts of our beloved Fiji. Meanwhile, an easterly wind is charmingly breezing through.
Forecasting our fun until midnight tonight: Expect intermittent rain, with bursts of heavy showers and the occasional thunderstorm, especially in those popular areas. If you’re elsewhere, don’t get too comfy – you might still be treated to random evening showers and thunderstorms too. Rustling umbrellas and flash flooding may become a concern in low-lying and flood-prone areas, so keep your floaties handy!
The easterly winds will be on the moderate side, so don’t plan any kite-flying adventures just yet! Seas will remain moderate too, which means your boat might not flip over, but it may still feel like a bumpy ride.
Looking ahead to Sunday: more of the same, with occasional downpours and thunderstorms zipping around the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, etc. Isolated heavy falls could crash the party in other regions too. So whether you’re in Navua, Suva, or good ol’ Tailevu, stay alert!
