Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Attention, Northern Division and Northern Lau group! Grab your umbrellas and don your raincoats because a heavy rain alert is still in effect. Yes, it’s time to channel your inner duck and embrace the splashes!

What’s stirring up this aquatic adventure? A troublesome trough of low pressure is creeping down southerly, bringing some exciting clouds and showers your way starting tomorrow.

So, here’s what the weather wizards have conjured up for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow:

Expect overcast skies and various showers, particularly in the Northern Division and Northern Lau group. The showers will be putting on a show, becoming more ambitious and transforming into proper rain later. If you’re in Eastern Viti Levu (yes, we see you Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra), prepare for the clouds to decide they want to join the party too—with frequent showers crashing in.

For everyone else, it should remain relatively fine, barring the typical afternoon or evening showers. Thunderstorms may also make an entrance, scratching that itch for excitement. So, kick back and enjoy the moderate northeastern to southeastern winds as they dance around and possibly shake the trees.

Don’t forget about the seas—they may not exactly be the calmest, with moderate to rough waves.

What can we expect for Thursday? More of the same, folks! Occasional rain and a few unexpected thunderstorms will pop up over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the surrounding islands. Clouds will be hanging out, occasionally dropping by with showers and the potential for isolated heavy downpours.

Let’s check the weather for some specific spots:

**Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Prepare for some clouds and brief showers, possibly turning into heavy downpours with a thunderous encore.
Tomorrow: Min: 22, Max: 30.
Thursday: Same tune with clouds and showers, Min 22, Max 30.

**Natadradave/Korovou**: You guessed it—cloudy with occasional showers and a chance for thunderstorms.
Tomorrow: Min: 22, Max: 30.
Thursday: Same mystical weather as before, Min 21, Max 30.

**Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Enjoy the fine weather, but keep your eyes peeled for afternoon or evening showers and the potential for a little thunder.
Tomorrow: Min: 21, Max: 30.
Thursday: More of the same wet whimsy, Min 22, Max 31.

**For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: Stay relaxed with fine weather, though showers and thunderstorms may crash the evening party.
Tomorrow: Min: 22, Max: 31.
Thursday: Expect more rain rumblings, Min: 21, Max 31.

**For Tavua/Rakiraki**: Cloudy skies with chances of brief showers followed by some thunderous action over Rakiraki.
Tomorrow: Min: 22, Max: 31.
Thursday: Gather those thunderstorms again, Min: 22, Max: 32.

And the pattern continues for other areas like Yasawa/Mamanuca, Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, and Taveuni. Get ready to embrace the unpredictable weather since we might get rain and thunder from time to time!

And for you lovely people on Rotuma, a little low-pressure camaraderie is hanging about. Expect occasional showers and potential thunderstorms tonight, with the same possibilities extending into tomorrow.

Tomorrow: Min: 24, Max: 30.
Thursday: A mix of occasional showers and some shy thunderstorms. Min: 25, Max: 30.

So, there you have it, folks! Weather may be a rollercoaster for the next few days, so don’t forget your rain gear and keep smiling as the clouds join the fun!
