Attention everyone! Hold onto your umbrellas because we’ve got a HEAVY RAIN ALERT still drenching the Fiji Group. Seems like Tropical Cyclone Seru is starting to lose its flair (and strength) way out southwest of us—but don’t be fooled, Mother Nature still has some tricks up her sleeve.
Here’s what’s shaking for the Fiji crew until midnight tomorrow:
For the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti: Get ready for occasional showers, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms might pop up to give you a little surprise! Think of it as nature’s version of “unexpected guests.”
In the Interior and Southern parts of Viti Levu— from Momi all the way to Suva, including Naitasiri and the Serua/Namosi—expect things to be “fine” but with a chance of a few afternoon or evening showers and a dramatic thunderstorm or two, which might just be thunderstorms auditioning for a role in the next big weather drama.
Elsewhere, it’ll be partly cloudy with some showers and the possibility of isolated heavy falls, which could make for some interesting puddle-splashing opportunities. So, grab your boots! Moderate northerly winds will give a fresh and gusty twist in areas where those heavy falls love to hang out, alongside moderate to rough seas—an excellent reminder that the ocean also has “mood swings.”
Looking ahead to Saturday: Rain is expected to be more of a regular guest, with heavy times and a few thunderstorms crashing the party over most areas. You’ve been warned, so don’t forget to wear your weather-proof attire!
For specific areas:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect fine skies with afternoon or evening showers trying to sneak in and a thunderstorm that thinks it’s the life of the party.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Expect cloudy periods with some showers. An occasional heavy fall might want to steal the show!
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: It will start off fine but then throw in a surprise of thunderstorms later—heavy falls await!
Tavua/ Rakiraki: Cloudy with some showers and just a hint of heavy showers to keep things interesting.
Labasa: Looks like some cloudy periods and showers are scheduled. Don’t be surprised by those heavy falls trying to make a splash!
Savusavu: Fine in the day but expect some afternoon or evening showers and maybe a thunderstorm just for fun.
For Lau/Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Continuation of occasional showers mixed with heavy falls and possibly thunder shouting its arrival.
And for Rotuma? Expect a mood of cloudy with brief showers—who knew weather could have such personality? And the winds are feeling fresh to moderate, alongside moderate to rough seas to keep sailors on their toes.
So there you have it, Fiji! Keep that raincoat handy and your sense of humor intact—because whether it’s a shower, a thunderstorm, or a surprise downpour, we’re all in this together!
