Weather Report

Grab your umbrellas and put on your raincoats, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT remains active for Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and the smaller islands nearby. Seriously, if you don’t have an umbrella by now, are you really living your best life?
So, what’s cooking in the skies? A rather moody trough of low pressure is hanging around just northwest of Fiji, and it’s decided to bless us with some cloudiness, showers, and rain through to Friday. Talk about over-staying its welcome! With a juicy northeast wind flow sweeping across the area, we’re expecting a lot of visitors—mostly in the form of water droplets.
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Expect occasional showers and some cheeky thunderstorms, especially over eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu. That’s from Coastal Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and a few more spots. Yasawa, Mamanuca, Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those tiny islands will also get a taste of this wet party.
If you’re outside right now, it could get cloudy, so brace yourself for those surprise showers. Just imagine it—every time you head out, it’s like a game of “Will it rain or won’t it?” Spoiler alert: it likely will. The rain will be more frequent later tonight, so if you feel like performing a little rain dance, now might be a good time!
And for those weather enthusiasts, localised heavy falls could lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas, so keep an eye on any puddles that look like they’re ready to take over your shoes. The seas will be moderate to rough as well, so if you’re planning to surf, make sure your flotation devices are ready!
Looking ahead to Wednesday: The forecast is showing more rain—yes, you guessed it! Expect occasional showers, with the possibility of the heavens opening up even more than they have so far. And yes, there will be thunderstorms adding a little flair to the weather.
Here’s a quick rundown for various areas:
– **Navua/Suva/Nausori**: Occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms. The rain is expected to ramp up later tonight.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Of course, more occasional showers and thunderstorms! What a surprise!
– **Nadi/Lautoka/Ba**: Expect cloudy periods and some showers that will turn into a heavy rain fiesta tonight.
– **Tavua/Rakiraki**: They’ve pulled the short straw with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.
– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group**: Get ready for some more rain action with occasional showers.
– **Labasa and Savusavu**: Occasional showers and the chance for thunderstorms. You might want to consider a rain dance or two.
– **Kadavu**: That’s right—occasionally rainy with a chance of featuring some heavy drops.
And for our friends on Rotuma, there’s some heavy rain due to an undeniably nagging trough of low pressure. Make sure you’re ready for a splash zone, and expect more rain to join the party tomorrow!
Remember, fellow weather warriors: Stay dry, stay safe, and don’t forget to appreciate the glorious sounds of nature’s shower!
