Warning! Warning! The rain gods have spoken, and a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is in place for the entire Fiji group. So put away those sunglasses and umbrellas—you’re going to need a boat!
Here’s the scoop: A low-pressure trough is lounging around to the north of the group, creating a cozy atmosphere of clouds and rain. It seems like Mother Nature decided she’d like a spa day, but the rest of us got stuck under the drippy faucet. Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, another trough is on its way from the west to crash the party later tonight. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wet ride until early next week!
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
For our friends in Vanua Levu, Lau, and Lomaiviti: Expect occasional rain, which may dance between light sprinkles and heavy downpours, accompanied by a few thunderous claps that may make you jump.
For those in the interior parts of Viti Levu, from Sigatoka to Navua and reaching Suva up to Tailevu North: Prepare for showers to step things up! They’ll morph into frequent rain in the afternoon or evening, with thunderstorms possibly conducting their own symphony from above.
Elsewhere, you can expect occasional rain, with isolated heavy falls and some thunderstorms that are just too eager to join the fun.
Heads up! Localized heavy falls might lead to flash flooding on low-lying and flood-prone areas, so keep that rubber duck handy. Expect moderate northwesterly winds which might gust at moments, bringing the kind of excitement usually reserved for roller coasters.
Moderate seas will be rough during squalls. So if you’ve always wanted to surf in a rainstorm, now is your chance (unless you value your life, then maybe just enjoy it from shore).
Outlook for Monday: Expect another thrilling day with occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Lau, and Lomaiviti. Elsewhere, showers will join the heavy rain party, just to keep things interesting.
For the lovely folks in Navua / Suva / Nausori: Get ready for occasional showers morphing into rain, reaching frequent levels in the afternoon or evening with a few thunderstorm surprises.
For the Nadi / Lautoka / Ba crew: You’ll get your own mix of occasional rain, with some isolated hefty downpours and maybe an angry thunderstorm for good measure.
Sigatoka and the Coral Coast? You’re up next with showers that escalate into rain later in the day, heralding a few thunderstorms.
And for those in Tavua / Rakiraki, Yasawa / Mamanuca, and Labasa: Brace yourselves—the pattern continues with occasional rain, heavy at times, and those lively thunderstorms popping in for a visit.
Savusavu: Expect cloudy skies filled with some showers that will evolve into rain by the afternoon or evening, with isolated thunderstorms showing up just in time for your evening plans.
For our buddies in Lau / Lomaiviti: Occasional rain and sporadic thunderstorms will keep you on your toes.
Kadavu—enjoy occasional rain, heavy at times, and those anticipated thunderstorms.
Finally, Rotuma: A trough of low pressure has decided to turn your day into a wet one too, with heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms making their appearance.
So there you have it, folks! Rain, rain, go away? Not anytime soon! Keep dry and enjoy the show!
