Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 7:30pm on Friday, November 7, 2025
Attention all rain enthusiasts! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still waving its umbrella for the eastern half of Viti Levu, circling around from Serua-Namosi to the glamorous Navua, Suva, and Nausori, stretching all the way to Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, the Yasawa islands, the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and some nearby small islands. So, if you thought you were safe from a little drizzle, think again! For further amusement and updates, feel free to check the Special Weather Bulletin from the National Weather Forecasting Center at https://www.met.gov.fj/alerts/
Here’s the skinny on what’s coming our way: We have a weak pressure trough mixing things up in the eastern parts, accompanied by a desire for showers. Meanwhile, our good old friend, the northeasterly wind flow, is hanging around the beautiful Fijian shores.
Tonight’s forecast until midnight tomorrow promises cloudy periods with some showers for the rain-following crowd in Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, and neighbors like Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and those smaller islands. If you’re in other areas, expect lovely fine weather, apart from a few sporadic afternoon or evening showers. Don’t be surprised if there are a few thunderous bangs as well, particularly over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu; let’s just say the southern halves might need some extra patience for afternoon thunderstorms with a side of heavy falls and a sprinkle of flash flooding on low-lying roads.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, it’s all about occasional rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms trying to steal the spotlight in Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Yasawa, the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and their smaller island friends. Elsewhere, expect localized heavy falls too, possibly leading to some mischievous flash flooding in those low-lying areas. Thank you, Mother Nature!
As for Sunday’s outlook: Rinse and repeat! More rain, possibly heavy, and a few more thunderstorms will be making their rounds. Moderate breezes will put in their appearance, along with moderate seas, so don’t forget to hold onto those hats!
