A heavy rain warning has been issued for the western and northern regions of Viti Levu, encompassing areas from Momi in Nadi to Rakiraki, as well as the interior of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri, and Tailevu provinces, along with Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca Islands.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a slow-moving trough of low pressure is located to the far northwest of the country, which is anticipated to drift southward and impact the northwestern parts of Fiji later today.

The forecast indicates that showers will begin to develop and will progressively increase into heavy rainfall, particularly in the specified areas. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms may occur, bringing the likelihood of heavy downpours.

As the weather situation unfolds, it is essential for residents to stay informed and prepare for potentially severe weather conditions in the coming days. This proactive approach can help mitigate the impact of the heavy rains.

In these challenging weather situations, it’s crucial to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimize disruption. Communities often come together during natural events, reminding us of our resilience and the importance of supporting one another.
