Attention, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and be prepared for a dramatic weather showdown, as a Heavy Rain Alert continues to loom over our beautiful islands. Yes, folks, it’s that time again – the universe has decided it’s shower time, and not just a quick rinse!
Our old friend, the trough of low pressure, is hanging out over the southern parts of Fiji, bringing chilly clouds and rain, while the northwesterly winds are throwing in a few free showers. Quite the social gathering if you ask me!
So here’s the nitty-gritty for the weather until midnight tomorrow:
For Kadavu, Moala Group, and the Southern Lau Group: Occasional rain and some hefty thunderstorms may just rain on your parade. Don’t forget your floaties!
For the interior parts of Viti Levu like Sigatoka through Navua and the area stretching into Suva: Expect a lot of clouds getting all moody and throwing showers your way, especially in the afternoons and evenings. Thunderstorms may join the party, bringing a little flair with their lightning.
For the rest of Fiji: Picture occasional rain with some heavy downpours and a chance of thunderstorm drama. The heavy rain might just pour down like it’s auditioning for a role in a soap opera.
Be cautious of localised heavy falls that could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. Those unsuspecting puddles may morph into a mini swimming pool, so keep an eye out!
Moderate northwesterly winds will stir things up, causing gusty conditions, especially in those dramatic rain-laden areas. The seas are feeling a bit moody too, ranging from moderate to roughly squally – a perfect time to master those surfing skills!
Looking ahead to Sunday: Yes, more rain is in store! Kadavu and the Western Division will again see periods of heavy rain and the odd thunderstorm. Other areas will get occasional heavy rain as well.
For the specific towns:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: A delightful mix of clouds and showers, which might transform into frequent rain in the afternoon. Thunderstorms coming in for a cameo appearance!
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Expect the rain to join you, potentially with isolated heavy falls. Thunderstorms are ready for their close-up too.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Tavua/Rakiraki, Yasawa/Mamanuca, and Labasa: The same saga continues with occasional rain and isolated heavy falls.
– Savusavu: Be prepared for frequent rain in the afternoon and evening. Our chances of thunderstorms are likely making a guest appearance too.
And for those in Rotuma: You won’t escape the rain saga either, with periods of heavy rain and gusty winds a part of your reality.
So, in summary, the weather seems set on a theme of rain, rain, and more rain with a few thunderstorm surprises thrown in. Let’s hope we all don’t need to start building an ark anytime soon! Stay dry and enjoy the tropical wet season!
