Weather Update

Attention all sun-seekers and umbrella enthusiasts! It’s that time again—our friendly neighborhood weather wizards have conjured up a forecast that should keep you on your toes!

Currently, a heavy rain and strong wind alert is in effect across Southern and Eastern Viti Levu, along with Kadavu and the surrounding islands. If you happen to spot a duck wearing a raincoat today, don’t be surprised; he might just be trying to set a trend!

What’s brewing in the atmosphere? A pesky trough of low pressure is making its way toward our beautiful islands, ready to unleash clouds, showers, and potentially a bit of drama in the form of thunderstorms from tonight through Thursday. So get your rain boots and ponchos ready!

For those in Kadavu and the nearby small islands: Expect northerly winds to kick in later this evening at a breezy average of 45 km/hr with gusts hitting up to 55 km/hr. Hold onto your hats, folks!

As for the rest of Fiji, today will bring moderate to fresh northerly winds, with the possibility of gusts that would make your grandma’s hairdo flutter. Cloudy spells will linger, with some showers and the occasional thunderstorm making an appearance, especially for those in Serua-Namosi and surrounding regions. Rain will be sashaying in from the west later today, so don’t be caught off guard!

Looking ahead to tomorrow: Kadavu and the adjoining islands can expect some spirited northwesterly winds and repetitive rain, while the rest of Fiji joins in for an encore of occasional heavy rain, mixed with some thunderstorms for good measure. Additionally, keep an eye on localised flash flooding in low-lying areas—your flip-flops might just become water shoes!

By Thursday, we anticipate a slight improvement! The skies may clear a bit, with a mix of clouds and sunshine, especially in areas like Navua, Suva, and Nausori. Meanwhile, the Northern Division might still experience a build-up of showers.

For our location-specific friends, here’s the scoop:

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: A cloudy day with showers in tow. Maximum temperature around 28°C. Tomorrow? Get ready for another wet ride with a minimum of 22°C and maximum of 27°C.

– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: A fine day but look out for potential afternoon showers. Max around 29°C. Tomorrow’s forecast includes occasional rain and a minimum of 23°C, max 28°C.

– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Mostly fine today, but get your umbrella handy for tonight. Max 29°C. Tomorrow will get a bit wild with rain; minimum of 19°C and maximum of 28°C.

– For the rest of the country, keep your rain gear at the ready, and don’t forget to enjoy the breezy weather—perfect for a dramatic hair flip as you dash for cover!

Now, if you see anyone attempting a rain dance to speed up the clearance, kindly remind them to keep their distance! Enjoy the weather, and may your rain-soaked adventures bring you joy!
