Fijian captain Roy Krishna’s late goal was insufficient for Odisha FC, as they suffered a defeat against Chennaiyin FC in their opening match of the 2024-25 Indian Super League at Kalinga Stadium yesterday.
Odisha FC initially took the lead when Diego Mauricio converted a penalty. However, Chennaiyin FC equalized in the second half, followed by a quick succession of goals that put them ahead 2-1, thanks to a brace from Farukh Choudhary.
Debutant Daniel Chima Chukwu then further extended Chennaiyin’s lead. In the final moments, Krishna managed to score, but it was too late to change the outcome of the match.
Odisha FC is set to play against Punjab FC in their next game.
