The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with the medical professionals from Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully held their inaugural ECHO Outreach event for children in Daviqele, Nabukelevu. This event focused on providing echocardiogram screenings that are crucial for identifying potential heart problems, including damage from heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital heart defects.
To eliminate transportation hurdles, the Ministry organized free transport for both the children and their guardians traveling to and from the screening location.
During this impactful outreach, a total of 395 children were screened, leading to 19 newly diagnosed cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease, aside from those already known to have Congenital Heart Disease.
This initiative highlights the commitment to improving children’s health in the region and ensuring early detection and treatment of serious heart conditions. The collaborative efforts not only provide essential health services but also raise awareness about heart health in the community.
Overall, this outreach event represents a significant step forward in prioritizing pediatric health needs and fostering a healthier future for the children of Nabukelevu.
