The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with the medical professionals from Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully executed their inaugural ECHO Outreach day for children in Daviqele, Nabukelevu. This initiative aimed to provide echocardiograms, a crucial tool for identifying various heart conditions, including damage caused by heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital heart defects.
To eliminate transportation challenges for families, the Ministry organized complimentary transport for the children and their guardians to and from the screening location. This thoughtful measure ensured that those in need could access crucial medical evaluations without any logistical hurdles.
During the outreach, a total of 395 children were screened, revealing 19 new cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease, excluding those identified with Congenital Heart Disease. This outreach not only facilitated early diagnosis but also highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare services for children.
The successful execution of this outreach reflects a significant step towards improving heart health in the community and underscores the dedication of healthcare providers to serve children in need.
Overall, the event is a promising development in addressing heart health issues among children, paving the way for more outreach programs in the future. Initiatives like this one foster hope for healthier futures for many young individuals in the region.
