The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully held their inaugural ECHO Outreach day for children in Daviqele, Nabukelevu. This initiative aimed to utilize echocardiograms, which are essential for diagnosing various heart-related issues, including damage from heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital heart defects.

To facilitate access for families facing transportation challenges, the Ministry provided complimentary transport for both the children and their guardians to the screening location.

During this outreach event, 395 children were screened, resulting in the identification of 19 new cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease, excluding those with congenital heart conditions.

This initiative highlights the commitment of local healthcare providers to improve children’s health and ensure that critical cardiac issues are promptly identified and addressed. The outreach not only underscores the importance of community support in healthcare initiatives but also paves the way for further enhancements in pediatric cardiology services.
