Former Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, is set to have his hearing date scheduled for next month. This morning, his case was heard before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull at the High Court in Suva. Professor Prasad faces a charge of failure to comply with statutory disclosure requirements, an allegation stemming from 2015. He is also charged with providing false information in a statutory declaration, reportedly due to the omission of his directorship in the submitted declaration.
Justice Bull is overseeing Professor Prasad’s application for a permanent stay in the case. He is being represented by Senior Lawyer Richard Naidu from Munro Leys. The proceedings have been postponed, and the court will reconvene on January 15 to address the matter further.
This development marks an important moment for Professor Prasad as he navigates the legal challenges before him, with the upcoming hearing possibly influencing his political and professional future.
