Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals has announced a collaboration with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) aimed at enhancing healthcare access for over 10,500 sugarcane farmers at discounted rates, thereby promoting quality and efficient medical services for this crucial sector.

This initiative follows productive discussions between Parvish Kumar, the founder and CEO of PSH Group of Hospitals, and SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, alongside Fund CEO Raj Sharma. Their meeting took place over the weekend, during which Mr. Bhamji and Mr. Sharma toured PSH’s Nadi hospital, expressing their admiration for the modern medical technology and cleanliness standards observed.

During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Mr. Bhamji highlighted the Fund’s commitment to provide policy flexibility and attractive packages tailored to the growers. He noted that the sugarcane industry’s scale and collective buying power could lead to substantial benefits for farmers.

Mr. Sharma emphasized that this partnership aims to significantly improve the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers. He expressed gratitude towards Mr. Kumar and his hospital for their commitment to this initiative, revealing plans for extending healthcare access to cane farmers in Labasa.

Further discussions included how Mr. Kumar and his team could contribute to outreach programs focused on wellness and healthcare, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Kumar, whose roots lie in sugarcane farming, recognized the challenges farmers face regarding healthcare access and reiterated his dedication to addressing these issues through this collaboration.

He stated, “I had no hesitation in joining the Fund in this loyalty programme as sugarcane farmers will now be able to get faster and cost-effective medical services at my hospitals,” reflecting a shared commitment to support the farming community that has historically played a significant role in Fiji’s economy.

This partnership stands as a hopeful step toward sustaining and enhancing the well-being of Fiji’s agricultural sector, underscoring the importance of accessible healthcare for farmers and their families. By fostering such collaborations, the community can look forward to a healthier future where agricultural productivity and wellness go hand in hand.

In summary, the collaboration between PSH Hospitals and SCGF not only signifies a vital support for sugarcane farmers in accessing affordable healthcare but also reinforces the connection between health and agricultural sustainability, preaching long-term benefits for the farming community in Fiji.
