Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals has teamed up with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) to enhance healthcare access for over 10,500 sugarcane farmers, offering services at reduced rates. This initiative aims to promote quality and efficient healthcare for this critical community.
The collaboration emerged from discussions between PSH’s founder and CEO, Parvish Kumar, and SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, along with Fund CEO Raj Sharma, over the weekend. Bhamji and Sharma toured PSH’s Nadi hospital, expressing their admiration for the advanced medical technology and the high standards of cleanliness observed there.
During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Bhamji highlighted the flexibility of new policies tailored to the needs of growers, aiming to ensure they receive optimal offers through this initiative. He acknowledged the collective bargaining power of the over 10,500 farmers in the industry.
Sharma emphasized that this partnership will significantly enhance the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers, stating, “We are honored to have Mr. Kumar and his hospital on board, contributing to healthcare advancements for cane farmers throughout Fiji.” Plans include providing healthcare services in Labasa, extending support to farmers in that region.
Discussions have also focused on outreach programs aimed at educating cane farmers on wellness and healthcare, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Kumar, who has a personal connection to the sugarcane farming community, expressed his commitment to addressing the healthcare challenges faced by farmers. He stated, “I had no hesitation in joining this Loyalty Programme, as farmers will now gain access to quicker and more affordable medical services at my hospitals.”
This partnership between PSH and SCGF is a promising step towards improving the health and wellbeing of Fiji’s sugarcane farmers, ensuring they receive the necessary support and services that can uplift their lives.
In summary, this new collaboration represents a significant advancement in accessibility to healthcare for sugarcane farmers, showing a positive commitment from both organizations to support a vital sector of Fiji’s economy while working towards broader community health initiatives.
