Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals has announced a partnership with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) aimed at providing healthcare access to over 10,500 sugarcane farmers at reduced costs. This initiative seeks to improve access to quality healthcare services for these vital members of the agricultural community.

The collaboration emerged following discussions between PSH’s founder and CEO, Parvish Kumar, SCGF chairperson Ahmed Bhamji, and Fund CEO Raj Sharma during the past weekend. Bhamji and Sharma expressed their satisfaction after visiting PSH’s Nadi hospital, where they were impressed by the advanced medical technology and overall cleanliness of the facility.

During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Bhamji highlighted the Fund’s commitment to adapting policies to suit the needs of growers and to introduce appealing packages. He stated, “We continuously looked at the best ways to sustain the Fund,” noting the importance of tapping into the collective buying power of the sugarcane farmers.

Bhamji emphasized that this new healthcare initiative will enable sugarcane farmers to access competitive offers and rewards for their productivity, ultimately enhancing their livelihoods. Sharma reiterated the importance of this partnership, stating that the collaboration with PSH would not only provide healthcare access but also aim to uplift the living standards of the farmers.

Healthcare services will extend to Labasa, ensuring that cane farmers there also benefit from this program. Discussions have also included outreach efforts focusing on wellness and healthcare, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Kumar expressed his pride in supporting the agricultural community, acknowledging the historical significance of the sugarcane industry in Fiji’s economy while recognizing the challenges farmers face in accessing healthcare.

“I had no hesitation in joining the Fund in this loyalty programme as sugarcane farmers will now be able to get faster and cost-effective medical services at my hospitals,” Kumar stated, emphasizing his understanding of the farmers’ struggles.

This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering a healthier community among Fiji’s sugarcane farmers, combining modern healthcare solutions with support for one of the country’s critical economic sectors. It reflects a hopeful outlook on the potential for partnerships to uplift local communities by providing essential services.
