The Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji (SSDPSF) has entered a significant partnership with Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding that sets the stage for a 20-year strategic roadmap to enhance community health services. National President Dhirendra Nand announced this initiative during the inaugural Sanatan Gala Night at the 63rd Sanatan Convention held at the Girmit Multicultural Centre in Lautoka, aiming to improve the livelihoods of all Sabha members through various health-related reforms.
During the event, Ritesh Kumar, the operations manager at PSH Hospitals, emphasized the importance of the Sanatan community in cultural preservation and pride. He noted that the convention celebrated not only shared identities and values but also the evolution of a collective vision over generations.
Kumar stated, “This gathering is a mirror of who we are and a window into who we can become,” highlighting the various aspects of the convention that honored cultural traditions, sparked new ideas, and recognized dedication through awards.
The collaboration aims to bring tangible benefits to the Sanatan community, including reduced general practitioner consultation fees and free consultations for seniors aged 65 and older, alongside discounts on medical procedures at PSH facilities. Kumar mentioned that combining efforts with faith-based organizations, healthcare providers, and community leaders can effectively bridge existing gaps in healthcare access, thereby uplifting countless lives.
This partnership reflects a broader trend in Fiji where faith-based organizations are recognized for their crucial role in advancing social cohesion and health services. It showcases the potential for improved health outcomes and aligns with previous initiatives targeting better healthcare accessibility, particularly for underserved populations.
With the signing of this MOU, there is a promising outlook for the Sanatan community and its members, who can look forward to enhanced healthcare services and a better quality of life in the years to come. This initiative not only sets a hopeful tone for the health of community members but also contributes to the evolving healthcare landscape in Fiji, presenting opportunities for growth in health services and overall community development.
