Health Ministry Urges Community Support Amidst Rising Safety Concerns for Healthcare Workers

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of healthcare workers stationed at nursing stations and health centers nationwide is a primary concern.

In their official statement, the Ministry expressed zero tolerance for individuals or communities that demonstrate disrespect or instill fear in medical personnel who make significant sacrifices in their service.

The Ministry also noted that there has been a delay in securing a replacement nurse for the Naililili Nursing Station in Rewa, following a series of robberies at the nursing station’s quarters last December. Currently, the nurse assigned to Naililili is working at Wainibokasi Hospital and visits Naililili once a month to hold Maternal Child Health Clinics and Special Outpatients Clinics. Additionally, a laborer is tasked with cleaning the nursing station on a monthly basis.

As part of its strategy, the Ministry plans to install a fence around the nursing station and carry out other minor renovations. They are urging the community to take responsibility for the safety of the healthcare workers serving in their areas.
