The Ministry of Health is carrying out an evaluation following the passing of a 23-year-old male after a tooth extraction at the Taveuni Dental Clinic. Health Minister Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu stated that the evaluation will focus on the procedures and practices related to the tooth extraction to identify the factors that may have contributed to the tragic incident. He mentioned, “We will provide updates as the evaluation progresses.”
Dr. Atonio also indicated that a formal investigation would be initiated only if complaints were received, emphasizing that there are specific protocols that need to be adhered to. As of now, he noted that no complaints regarding the incident have been reported. The family of the deceased is understandably too heartbroken to comment to the media.
