Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospitals is taking a significant step to improve healthcare access for over 10,500 sugarcane farmers through a new partnership with the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF). This collaboration aims to provide these farmers with medical services at a reduced rate, ensuring they receive quality and efficient healthcare.
The partnership was solidified following talks between Parvish Kumar, founder and CEO of PSH Group of Hospitals, and key SCGF figures, including chairperson Ahmed Bhamji and CEO Raj Sharma. During a recent visit to PSH’s Nadi hospital, Bhamji and Sharma expressed their admiration for the hospital’s advanced medical technology and immaculate facilities.
During the launch of the SCGF Loyalty Programme, Bhamji highlighted the establishment of various policy adjustments to support the growers’ needs along with enticing offers. “By leveraging the collective buying power of over 10,500 productive growers, we aim to enhance the industry’s sustainability,” Bhamji stated.
Sharma emphasized the initiative’s potential to improve the overall well-being of sugarcane farmers. He mentioned that through this partnership, healthcare resources would also be accessible to farmers in Labasa.
The discussions between the SCGF and PSH encompassed strategies on how PSH can support outreach programs focused on wellness and healthcare, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Kumar expressed his commitment to serving the farming community, noting the historical significance of the sugarcane industry in Fiji’s economy and recognizing the challenges farmers encounter in accessing healthcare.
With this initiative, Kumar is optimistic about giving sugarcane farmers quicker and more affordable medical services at his hospitals. He remarked, “I had no hesitation in joining the Fund in this loyalty programme, as we aim to support those who form the backbone of our agricultural community.”
This partnership not only provides immediate benefits to the farmers but also has the potential to strengthen the entire agricultural community in Fiji, promoting wellness and sustainable practices in healthcare.
Additional Comment: This initiative reflects a deep understanding of community needs and a commitment to improve the lives of those who contribute significantly to the economy.
