Heads of Schools Take Charge: A New Era in Teacher Monitoring

The Education Minister, Aseri Radrodro, has stated that the responsibility for monitoring teacher performance in schools falls to school heads. In response to Opposition MP Hem Chand’s inquiries, Radrodro emphasized that school heads are qualified professionals familiar with the teaching and learning plans they establish for their classes, regardless of their distance from major urban centers.

Radrodro highlighted the essential role these heads play in overseeing and supporting both teachers and students at their schools. He outlined the expected teaching hours, specifying that early childhood education requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, primary education requires 35 hours, and secondary education necessitates 37.5 hours weekly.

Addressing concerns about shortages of teachers in specific subjects, Radrodro pointed out that this issue is inherited from previous administrations and suggested that Hem Chand, during his tenure as the human resources head, was aware of the challenges. Nonetheless, Radrodro reassured that efforts are in place to recruit the necessary educators for the schools.
