Heads of schools and their management committees have received a stern warning regarding their responsibilities in maintaining educational facilities. This notice comes from Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro, who has expressed concerns over the alleged misuse of public funds intended for the upkeep of Nabua Primary School, where the infrastructure has reportedly fallen into disrepair.

Minister Radrodro emphasized that the quality of education in schools will always remain in doubt unless the local school communities actively participate in the management and care of their institutions. In light of these findings, the Minister has mandated a proactive approach, calling for collaboration with community leaders, stakeholders, and district officers to tackle the infrastructural needs of schools effectively.

On a separate note, the Ministry has dismissed claims made by a member of the Natusara Primary School committee that transportation issues were affecting students’ ability to attend school. According to Minister Radrodro, there is no disruption to Year 8 examinations, as students completed their initial assessments earlier in the term. He confirmed that classes at Natusara Primary School resumed normally and that transport services have been restored to ensure student access.

The Minister reassured that the ongoing payments for transportation assistance were being processed at the established rate of $1.12. Vendors seeking additional vouchers have been informed to submit relevant documents, including a request letter from the service provider, community support, and cost analysis. This process also extends to transport service providers, who are encouraged to engage in consultations regarding the timely release of due payments.

This situation underscores a critical turning point for educational governance in the area. By reinforcing collaborative efforts within the community and ensuring accountability in school management, there is hope for a marked improvement in the educational infrastructure and experience for students.

In summary, the Education Minister is taking steps to enhance the management of public school funds and infrastructure while ensuring that student examinations and transportation needs are met, demonstrating a commitment to both accountability and community involvement in education.
