The recent groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lautoka Adventist High School represents a significant advancement in educational infrastructure, according to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Speaking at the event, he expressed his enthusiasm about the project, viewing it as a positive step forward for the community.
Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized the importance of collective goodwill, stating that the initiative reflects a broader commitment to goodness. He highlighted the historical significance of the chiefs’ decision to embrace missionaries, suggesting that this act of faith continues to yield benefits for the community today.
As the foundation is laid for the new school, Mr. Rabuka called for divine blessings on the initiative, wishing success for both the project’s inception and its eventual completion in 2026.
Project assistant manager Peni Bolatui provided details about the building, which is set to cost approximately $2 million. Construction is expected to commence early next year, featuring a double-storey structure that includes ten classrooms, a laboratory, and a library.
Funding for the project is primarily sourced from generous donations from the community, alongside efforts to secure additional sponsorships and support from the government. Bolatui also noted that all necessary approvals have been acquired from relevant government departments and the Lautoka City Council.
The school aims to accommodate about 480 to 500 students, welcoming individuals from various faiths, further promoting inclusivity within the educational system.
This endeavor not only marks a milestone in educational development in Lautoka but also signals a spirit of community collaboration and shared vision for a brighter future for the youth. As the school takes shape, it promises to nurture the next generation in a supportive and diverse environment.
