A ‘Stop Work Order’ remains in effect for the Great Han Residential Development located on Princess Road, as confirmed by the Department of Environment. The Department was informed on September 5, 2024, about the lifting of the order by the Suva City Council.
Following this notification, the Department conducted investigations and engaged with relevant parties to assess whether the lifting of the stop work order was consistent with their regulations. It was determined that Great Han had not adhered to the conditions set by the Suva City Council, which stated that work could only resume if the requirements outlined by the Department of Environment were met, as per a previous decision to decline the development.
In light of these findings, the Department of Environment took appropriate measures and issued a stop work order on September 24, in accordance with Section 43 of the Environment Management Act 2005.
