The renovation of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) complex, Vale ni Bose, is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the construction has been completed and work on the second phase is now underway.

The Trust Fund Board noted that practical completion is anticipated by mid-2025, with plans in place to adhere to timelines while ensuring high quality and safety standards. The project team is dedicated to effectively managing phase two, with a focus on meeting scheduled milestones.

Collaboration among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been efficient, featuring regular updates and progress assessments to keep the project on course.

The previous GCC complex was destroyed by a fire in 2020, and an insurance payout of $6 million has been allocated for the reconstruction. The second phase aims to enhance both the functionality and design of the facility, ensuring it serves its intended purpose effectively. There is confidence that the timely completion of the project will significantly benefit not only the meetings of the Great Council of Chiefs but also future users of the space.

Pacific Building Solutions is leading the construction efforts.
