The Grace Road Group has addressed concerns raised by the Ministry of Employment regarding possible violations of the Employment Relations Act 2007 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1996.

According to the ministry, the group’s compliance with essential employee rights and workplace safety standards is under scrutiny. They are currently conducting further investigations into the matters highlighted during their recent inspection.

In response, Grace Road Group stated that it had not received any prior notification or details about the inspections, thereby limiting its ability to comment on the alleged infractions.

Despite these challenges, the group plays a significant role in the local economy, employing over 800 staff across its operations in Fiji. Grace Road Group emphasizes its commitment to creating job opportunities for local communities, supporting rural development, and fostering balanced economic growth across the regions.

This situation may serve as a catalyst for improved communication between the Ministry of Employment and businesses, ultimately leading to better adherence to labor laws and enhanced workplace conditions.

It is encouraging to see businesses like Grace Road Group dedicated to local employment, as they contribute not only to individual livelihoods but also to the overall economic advancement of communities in Fiji.
