A recent inspection by the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations has uncovered workplace breaches at the Grace Road Company (GRC) across Viti Levu. Minister Agni Deo Singh revealed that the inspection report highlighted violations of the Employment Relations Act 2007 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1996.

In response to these findings, the Ministry is planning to conduct further investigations into the issues identified. Minister Singh emphasized that Fiji’s legal framework applies equally to both local and migrant workers, underlining the Ministry’s commitment to enforcing compliance with employment laws.

Moreover, Singh urged GRC to adhere to legal provisions and ensure that all workers receive their due compensation.

This proactive approach by the Ministry aims not only to hold businesses accountable but also to protect workers’ rights and improve overall workplace safety in the region. Upholding these standards is crucial for fostering a fair and safe working environment for everyone, which can ultimately enhance productivity and morale within the workforce.

In summary, the investigative efforts by the Ministry signify a strong commitment to enforcing labor laws, providing hope for positive changes within the working conditions at GRC. The Ministry’s actions could lead to better protection for workers, ensuring they are treated fairly and equitably.
