A recent inspection by the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations has revealed violations related to the minimum employment terms and conditions and occupational health and safety regulations at the Grace Road Company (GRC) across Viti Levu.

Minister Agni Deo Singh reported that the inspection identified breaches of the Employment Relations Act 2007 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1996. Following the inspection findings, the Ministry plans to conduct further investigations to address the issues raised.

Minister Singh emphasized that the laws in Fiji apply equally to both local and migrant workers, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring compliance with employment regulations. He urged GRC to align with legal provisions and make certain that workers receive the compensation they are entitled to.

The proactive measures being taken by the Ministry reflect a strong commitment to worker rights and safety, fostering an environment where both local and migrant workers can expect fair treatment in their employment. This initiative is an important step toward enhancing workplace standards and accountability among employers.

Additionally, the ongoing investigations signify an effort to not only rectify current issues but also to prevent future violations, promoting a safer and more equitable work environment for all employees.
