The redevelopment of Govind Park in Ba is nearing completion, with the Ba Town Council announcing that it is now 90 percent ready. The second phase of this significant project, valued at $8 million, involved contracts awarded to Western Builders and Heritage Limited, who have undertaken extensive infrastructure and construction services, including the establishment of new facilities and an international-sized sports ground.
Currently, Western Builders is responsible for the installation of essential components such as the ticket booth, fencing, footpaths, and various electrical, fire, and mechanical systems. Meanwhile, Heritage Limited is focusing on the construction of the sports ground, irrigation systems, and embankment shaping.
Moshim Khan, the Special Administrator of the Ba Town Council, highlighted that the sports field features Bermuda Tiftuf Grass, which has been imported from Australia. This particular type of grass is known for its durability, drought resistance, and resilience under heavy sports usage, making it ideal for rugby and soccer events.
Khan expressed optimism regarding the park’s prospects, suggesting that it could host Super Rugby matches next year, as well as upcoming IDC and Skipper Cup games in the months ahead.
This redevelopment marks a significant investment into the community’s sporting infrastructure and aims to not only enhance local events but also attract international competitions, promising growth in community engagement and economic opportunities. The successful completion of Govind Park will create a vibrant venue that showcases the local sports culture, fostering a spirit of unity and pride among residents of Ba.
