Government’s Commitment Shines in Flood Recovery Efforts

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, conducted a visit to flood-affected areas from Sigatoka to Rakiraki to evaluate the damage inflicted by recent flooding and to provide assistance to the communities impacted by the adverse weather conditions.

During his visit, Prof Prasad was accompanied by local government officials as he toured the devastated areas, engaging with residents, community leaders, and emergency response teams to better understand the challenges faced by these communities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to offering immediate relief as well as sustained support for recovery efforts. “We are here to listen, support, and ensure a swift recovery,” he expressed.

Furthermore, Prof Prasad highlighted the importance of collaboration with local leaders and humanitarian organizations to effectively deliver the necessary assistance. He commended the resilience displayed by the affected communities and acknowledged the dedication of local volunteers and relief workers. He also expressed his gratitude to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for their efficient coordination of relief efforts, ensuring that aid reaches all families in need during this trying time.
