The Coalition Government is contemplating the possibility of providing grants directly to the School Management Association of Fiji to bolster their initiatives. This revelation was made by Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad during the association’s biennial conference held in Nausori.

Minister Prasad emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the association by thoroughly assessing their proposal for grants. He expressed confidence that this funding would enable the association to better coordinate, share knowledge, and unite management committees across the nation.

Addressing the attendees, he acknowledged the pivotal role that school management leaders play within their communities. He stated that they are not merely administrators; they are influential leaders capable of significantly enhancing the educational experience for children. Minister Prasad highlighted that the involvement of parents and school management in daily educational activities is crucial to addressing pressing issues, such as the alarming rates of drug-related problems in schools.

Furthermore, he encouraged school managers to take an active role in their institutions by fortifying parent-teacher associations and promoting collaboration between school management and educators. His remarks underscored the importance of a collective approach involving teachers, students, and parents, which he believes is fundamental for nurturing a thriving educational environment.

In summary, the potential for direct grants to the School Management Association could pave the way for improved collaboration and effectiveness in addressing education-related challenges in Fiji. This initiative reflects a broader vision for community involvement in education, promising a brighter future for students across the nation.
