The Coalition Government is actively collaborating with relevant stakeholders to assist residents of River Road in Narere and Sawani in Naitasiri, who recently faced challenges due to flooding and a landslide.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi, visited affected families to explore how the government can best support them during this difficult time. He expressed gratitude for the resilience displayed by the families as they work towards recovery.
“We will be partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture and other essential governmental stakeholders to tackle the flooding issue,” Minister Ditoka stated. He emphasized that while finding a long-term solution will take time, immediate measures will be considered to alleviate the current challenges faced by the residents.
Accompanying the Minister during his visit were the Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development, Isoa Talemaibua, Commissioner of the Central Division, Josefa Navuku, and representatives from other key government agencies in the Central Division.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to not only address the immediate needs of the affected families but also to implement sustainable strategies for future resilience against natural disasters. With collaboration and community support, there is hope for a stronger recovery and improved safety measures moving forward.
