Government Takes Action for Flood-Affected Families in Fiji

The Coalition Government is actively collaborating with key stakeholders to offer essential assistance to the residents of River Road in Narere and Sawani in Naitasiri, who have recently faced challenges due to flooding and a landslide.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi, visited affected families to discuss potential government interventions to alleviate their struggles. During his visit, he praised the families for their resilience during this difficult time.

“We will be coordinating efforts with the Ministry of Agriculture and other governmental bodies as we work towards solutions for the flooding issues,” Minister Ditoka stated. He acknowledged that while the approach will entail long-term planning, immediate actions are also being considered to provide relief.

The Minister’s visit was supported by Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Isoa Talemaibua, Commissioner Central Division (CCD) Josefa Navuku, along with representatives from other crucial government agencies in the Central Division.
