The Coalition Government is actively collaborating with key stakeholders to support the residents of River Road in Narere and Sawani in Naitasiri, who have recently experienced severe flooding and landslides. Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi Ditoka, visited affected families to discuss potential interventions and support from the government.
During his visit, Minister Ditoka expressed his appreciation for the families’ resilience in the face of these challenges and emphasized the government’s commitment to finding solutions. He noted, “We will be working with the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant stakeholders to address the flooding issue moving forward.”
While ensuring that effective solutions take time, he reassured the community that immediate assistance and long-term strategies would be developed to tackle the problem. Joining the Minister in the visit were the Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Isoa Talemaibua, Commissioner of the Central Division, Josefa Navuku, and representatives from various governmental agencies based in the Central Division.
This proactive approach signifies the government’s dedication to community welfare, focusing on both immediate relief and sustainable solutions to prevent future flooding.
