Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that his office received a complaint against Permanent Secretary Pita Wise, which he subsequently forwarded to Parmesh Chand, the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service. During a media briefing, Rabuka noted that Wise resigned immediately following a meeting with the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Luke Rokovada. The Prime Minister did not disclose the specifics of the complaint; however, he mentioned that he has proposed several candidates to the PSC for temporary appointment to the position. Additionally, Rabuka has invited former Permanent Secretaries from the Office of the Prime Minister to express their interest in serving as acting appointees. In a related development, Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime Mesake Waqa confirmed that there are currently no reports related to this incident. Earlier, the PSC indicated that Wise’s resignation from the civil service was voluntary and attributed to personal reasons.
