Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, recently visited communities impacted by floods stretching from Sigatoka to Rakiraki. His aim was to assess the damage and provide assistance to those affected by the severe weather conditions.
During his visit, Professor Prasad, accompanied by local government officials, toured the inundated areas, engaging with residents, community leaders, and emergency response personnel. He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering immediate relief and ensuring continued support for recovery efforts.
“We are here to listen, support, and ensure a swift recovery,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with local leaders and humanitarian organizations to address the needs of the communities.
Moreover, he commended the resilience of the residents and recognized the hard work of local volunteers and relief workers. He also expressed gratitude to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for its effective coordination of relief initiatives and support for all families affected during this challenging period.
