In a reciprocal change, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, currently overseeing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will step into Taga’s role at the Office of the Prime Minister. Dr. Korovavala will also take on the additional responsibilities of Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration, reporting directly to the Minister of Immigration.

Furthermore, Manasa Lesuma, who serves as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, will continue his duties as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing, a role he has maintained since January 14, 2025.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that these changes are vital for optimizing governance and ensuring that ministries are led by skilled professionals. He noted that such adjustments are critical for improving service delivery and fostering local talent in key leadership roles, thus creating a more accountable and efficient public service.

This reshuffle reflects a positive direction for governance in Fiji, indicating a commitment to addressing existing challenges and enhancing the effectiveness of public administration. By empowering experienced leaders, the government aims to navigate future challenges with innovative solutions and responsiveness to the needs of citizens.

In summary, this reshuffle signifies a proactive step towards strengthening Fiji’s governance framework, promising improved efficiency and adaptability in the public service sector. The government’s commitment to nurturing local expertise will likely pave the way for a brighter future in administrative operations.
