The Public Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Prime Minister, has officially announced a reshuffle of three Permanent Secretaries aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities within key ministries. These changes will take effect on February 3, 2025.

Dr. Raijeli Taga, who has been the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will transition to the role of Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In turn, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, the incumbent Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will move to the Office of the Prime Minister. Alongside this transition, Dr. Korovavala will also act as the Permanent Secretary for Immigration, directly reporting to the Minister of Immigration.

In another significant change, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, currently serving as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has assumed additional responsibilities. Since January 14, 2025, he has also been acting as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that these appointments underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening its leadership and ensuring effective management across essential sectors. This reshuffle aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to optimize public service delivery and leverage local talent for leadership positions.

The PSC previously highlighted the importance of appointing leaders based on their proven success and expertise, reinforcing trust in local professionals’ capabilities. This reshuffle is seen as an opportunity for renewed energy and innovation within the government that could lead to improved governance and responsiveness to national challenges.

Overall, these adjustments mark a strategic move towards fostering a responsive and accountable public service framework, ensuring that the country can effectively meet its developmental goals.
