Government Leadership Shake-up: Key Permanent Secretaries Transition

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a significant reshuffle of Permanent Secretaries, which will take effect on February 3, 2025. This reorganization is being carried out in collaboration with the Prime Minister as part of ongoing efforts to enhance leadership capabilities within key ministries.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada stated that Dr. Raijeli Taga, currently serving as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will transition to become the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In turn, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, who has been leading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will take Dr. Taga’s place at the Office of the Prime Minister and additionally serve as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration.

Furthermore, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, known for his role as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has been assigned additional responsibilities as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing since January 14, 2025.

This reshuffle reflects the government’s commitment to optimizing leadership roles and ensuring that skilled professionals are in crucial positions within the public service.
