He highlighted the urgent situation in the Fiji Muslim League squatter settlement in Nabua, Suva, where over 400 households have received eviction notices.
Nalumisa pointed out that the issues are not limited to Nabua, as families in the Bhindi subdivision, Waidamu settlement, and even Navua are also under similar circumstances. He emphasized that this situation reflects a broader challenge that the government must confront to assist those affected.
To prevent future occurrences of illegal building, Nalumisa urged individuals to refrain from constructing homes on land they do not legally own. He advised people to approach the Ministry of Housing, the Lands Department, or the iTaukei Lands Trust Board for guidance on land ownership matters. He believes that increasing awareness about these processes is essential to avoid similar challenges in the future.
