Pita Wise, the Chief Strategist for the government, has resigned from his position as the Prime Minister’s Permanent Secretary, effective immediately.
Luke Rokovada, chair of the Public Service Commission, reported that Wise chose to leave the civil service for personal reasons. Wise has held the role of Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister since January 2023 and has previously served in similar positions under earlier administrations.
Rokovada noted that Wise has an extensive career in government, totaling over 30 years of service. He expressed gratitude for Wise’s significant contributions and remarkable performance during his tenure, wishing him success in his future pursuits.
The identity of Wise’s successor remains uncertain at this time.
