Students from the kindergarten class of Gospel Primary School received a warm welcome at the State House on April 25, 2025, during their inaugural visit with Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. This special occasion allowed the young learners, along with their parents, guardians, and teachers, to showcase their talents through spirited performances of songs, expressing their appreciation to the President.
In his address, President Lalabalavu acknowledged the vital role that teachers play in shaping the future of the nation. He stated, “Early childhood education is the most important stage in a child’s development, where the fundamentals of learning and character are established.” He referred to educators as “mentors, role models, and builders of dreams,” highlighting their significant contribution to nation-building efforts.
The President took the opportunity to encourage parents and guardians to remain actively involved in their children’s education beyond the early years. He stressed the importance of not only supporting children during their formative years but also throughout all 12 years of formal education, noting, “Your commitment to your children’s well-being is paramount.” He emphasized spending quality time with children and ensuring their overall safety and emotional support.
