Gospel High School Makes History in Super Deans Rugby Semi-Finals!

Gospel High School has advanced to its first Vodafone Super Deans semi-final following a commanding performance in the under-15 quarter-finals held yesterday. The Samabula team achieved a surprising victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School with a score of 12-7 in a closely contested match at Bidesi Park in Suva.

Gospel’s journey has been remarkable, overcoming challenges from the zonal stage to finish third, and they have successfully navigated a tough playoffs game in Labasa, setting the stage for the semi-finals next weekend.

Head coach Epineri Koroiveibau expressed pride in the team’s preparation over the past two weeks, stating, “We went to Labasa, came back, and played clean and hard rugby. We climbed from tier 2 to tier 1, progressed through the playoffs, and now we are in the semis next week.”

This milestone marks a significant moment for Gospel, as they venture into uncharted territory. Koroiveibau acknowledged Ratu Kadavulevu School’s strong tradition in the Deans quarters and semis but reassured his team that they could achieve the same success through dedication and hard work. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the school community, parents, and alumni, highlighting the efforts of teachers in coaching the players to perform at their best.

In other under-15 matches, Queen Victoria School triumphed over Natabua High School with a score of 12-0, Suva Grammar School defeated Holy Cross College 37-5, and Marist Brothers High School won against Sigatoka Methodist with a score of 17-13.
