A total of 83 golfers, including two juniors, participated in the Tumana Memorial Trophy at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa on Saturday. Jone Hui distinguished himself by delivering the best score of the tournament, securing the C Grade title with an impressive 40 points. He outperformed George Nacewa, who also scored 38 points but fell to second place based on countback, while Niumaia Tabunakawai finished third with the same score.
In the A Grade competition, Gregory Brown took the top spot with a score of 38 points, closely followed by Opetaia Ravai in second place and Danniel Abdulah in third, both scoring 37 points.
Tom Managreve won the B Grade title with 38 points, while Frank Chan placed second with 36 points, and Wilson Malani rounded out the top three with a score of 35 points.
In the ladies’ division, Natalie Evans emerged victorious with 38 points, followed by Kamini Singh with 34 points, and Zhane Ning with 32 points.
Participants also vied for Nearest to the Pin honors, with winners including Watisoni Leqeti on the second hole, Alex Konrote on the fifth, Dupito Sumamora on the twelfth, and William Parkinson on the sixteenth.
The event was generously sponsored by HAHIA Investments Pte Ltd and family members of Jitoko, Mavoa, and Naisara. This highlights the continued support for local golfing events, showcasing the community’s engagement in promoting the sport and fostering a positive environment for players of all ages and skill levels.
