The annual East vs West golf tournament is scheduled for November 17 at the Fiji Golf Club. This one-day event will feature a competitive 36-hole format across multiple divisions, including A, B, C, women’s, and juniors.

Golf Fiji President Amitesh Chandra highlighted the excitement of the tournament, stating that the players will compete in two distinct sessions, each presenting their own set of challenges. The morning session will utilize an Ambrose format, where pairs from each team go head-to-head within their respective grade. In the afternoon, the competition will shift to individual match play, awarding one point for each victory and half a point for draws. The team with the highest total points at the conclusion of the day will claim the championship.

Chandra further noted that Golf Fiji has invested $3,500 to fully cover the costs of the tournament. The intention behind hosting this event is to promote the game of golf and encourage healthy competition among players nationwide. “Such events unite players, enhance their skills, and fortify the golfing community,” Chandra remarked.

The upcoming East vs West tournament is expected to be a spirited and thrilling competition as golfers from various divisions and age groups prepare to showcase their talents on the course.

This event not only provides an opportunity for golfers to compete but also fosters camaraderie and growth within the golfing community. Such tournaments can inspire young players and elevate the profile of golf in the region, promoting an active lifestyle and sportsmanship.
