The Western Amateur Golf Championship wrapped up with outstanding performances at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club yesterday.
The tournament’s success was bolstered by the generous contributions from sponsors Sigatoka Motor Spare Parts and Coastal Rental Cars, which played a crucial role in the two-day event.
New Zealand’s Rajat Rai emerged victorious, clinching the overall Gross title with a score of 215. Keral Sharma won the overall Net title with a score of 214.
In the Gross category, Shakil Pillay took the Runner-Up spot with a score of 217, while Raghu Chowdhary followed closely with a Net score of 219. The Best 54 Holes Net title was shared by Kaushal Tappoo and Neerja Chadha, both scoring 224, with Tappoo taking the title on countback.
In the Junior Category, Damon Chen achieved the best junior Gross score of 91, and Alumeci Bolakoro secured the best Net score of 52.
For the seniors, Indra Warjan of Ba Golf recorded the best Gross score of 244, while Biren Kumar finished with the best Net score of 225.
On Day 1, Nitulesh Mali claimed the Best Gross score with 75, while P J Singh took the Best Net title with a score of 71. Day 2 saw Praveer Chand deliver an impressive Gross score of 76 C/B, with Jay Meghji earning the Best Net score of 68.
In the Nearest to the Pin (NTP) competitions, standout performances included P J Singh, Trevor Fox, Nitulesh Mali, and Yash Kumar on Day 1, while Day 2 saw Kaushal Tappoo, Joel D, and P J Singh excel again. Rajat Rai demonstrated his power by winning the Longest Drive competition on both days.
