Amitesh Chandra, president of Golf Fiji, has unveiled ambitious plans for 2025 that emphasize international representation, the development of junior golfers, and enhanced support for local talent. The organization is gearing up for the World Amateur Team Championship slated for October 2025 in Singapore, with trials already underway to determine which players will represent Fiji at this prestigious event.

In addition, Fijian golfers Shakil Pillay and Rajat Rai are expected to make their inaugural appearances at the NEC Master of Amateur Golf Championship taking place in Melbourne, Australia, in January 2025. To facilitate their participation, Golf Fiji has allocated $5,000, building on the momentum generated by the duo’s success at the Asian Amateur Golf Championship in 2024.

At the grassroots level, Golf Fiji aims to strengthen its collaboration with local clubs such as Fiji Golf Club, Ba, Lautoka, and Novotel Golf Course in Nadi. These clubs have exhibited promising junior programs, and Golf Fiji is committed to providing continued financial and coaching support to nurture young talent and foster community engagement with the sport.

Chandra emphasized the significance of partnerships, expressing gratitude to sponsors for their backing in 2024 and conveying his optimism for ongoing collaboration in 2025. He highlighted that such partnerships will be vital in expanding the organization’s calendar of events and pursuing its long-term objectives.

This proactive approach not only sets the stage for a brighter future in Fijian golf but also reflects a commitment to cultivating talent and building a stronger golfing community. With its clear focus on development and support, Golf Fiji is poised to make significant strides in the coming years.

In summary, Golf Fiji is laying a strong foundation for its future as it prepares its athletes for international competitions while prioritizing the growth of local talent and junior programs. This vision offers a hopeful perspective for the sport in Fiji, highlighting the potential for success at home and abroad.
